Create, implement, and promote a global awards program for the Internet Society, an international technology nonprofit, to establish a historic record of internet development origins, growth, and expansion, and publicly recognize global Internet pioneers.
Riotmind developed the awards model and selection committee, recruiting (among others) Wikipedia Founder Jimmy Wales, then-editor-in-chief of Wired Chris Anderson, and Lee Rainie, then-executive director of Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project. Riotmind then created and executed the program's international communications and marketing plan, comprising:
As part of the program, Riotmind negotiated an earned media partnership with Wired to profile inductees in a co-branded column and secured regular content distribution partnerships with Pew Research, Stanford University, CERN, MIT, and W3C to extend audience reach.
Riotmind continues to support the program (now in its 12th year) across all channels, directing content and digital strategy for the website, blog and social media, and overseeing media relations efforts. Year-to-date results include placing over 800 articles, securing over 40,000 social media followers across channels and growing email subscribers 30% year-over-year on average.
